
Ritz Carlton Highlands in Lake Tahoe
Located in the popular resort town of Truckee, the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Highlands lives up to the Ritz-Carlton name. One of the most luxurious hotels in the region, it attracts customers with discriminating taste who seek impeccable service in a friendly atmosphere. A ski-in, ski-out facility that is just steps from the slopes, this resort is reminiscent of a classic mountain lodge, with a rustic feel on the outside and plenty of luxury on the inside.
The Ritz-Carlton Highlands boasts a total of 170 guest rooms and suites. Deluxe rooms include a choice of one king or two queen beds. Some offer a mountain view. There’s a gas fireplace in each guest room as well as floor-to-ceiling windows, flat screen TVs, upgraded bed linens, luxurious marble bathrooms with dual sinks and separate tub and shower, terry robes, spacious closets, and much more. Club Level rooms include access to a dedicated concierge, a computer station, and continuous culinary offerings including breakfast, snacks, hors d’oeuvres, sweets, and beverages.
Most of the suites at the Ritz-Carlton Highlands measure about 800 square-feet. Some have mountain views. All have gas fireplaces in the king bedroom and a separate living area with an additional fireplace. These one-bedroom suites also have 1.5 baths, two televisions, dual phone lines, internet access, humidifiers, luxury baths and bath amenities, and much more. The largest suite on the premises, The Ritz-Carlton Suite, is a sprawling 1,900 square feet and offers all the amenities of the smaller suites plus a media room and office with flat-screen televisions, a butler pantry for entertaining, walk-in closet, and even bathroom floors with radiant heat. All rooms at this resort are non-smoking.
Skiing is king at the Ritz-Carlton Highlands. The resort is situated mid-mountain on the Northstar-at-Tahoe ski area, providing access to the slopes within just steps of your room. In addition, guests have a direct connection from the Highlands Village to the Village at Northstar via a gondola with 8-passenger cabins, introduced in time for the 2009-2010 ski season. The Village at Northstar provides additional access to a variety of activities, like ice skating, and offers a plethora of restaurants, clubs, art galleries, and shops.
There are two outdoor swimming pools at The Highlands as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center that offers not only free weights and cardio equipment but also exercise and yoga classes on site. In addition, the spa at the Ritz-Carlton Highlands includes a full menu of pampering treatments and 16 luxurious private treatment rooms. Individual treatments or packages are available and traditional salon services are offered as well.
There are 3 dining options at The Ritz-Carlton Highlands. These include Manzanita, a 94-seat restaurant with 71-seat bar that offers an open kitchen and serves French-inspired California cuisine using locally grown food when possible. In addition, The Living Room is a comfortable lounge that overlooks the mountain, offering light fare, full entrees, and alcoholic beverages including an extensive wine list. Mountain Blue Market is a counter-service establishment that features indoor and outdoor seating and sells items for continental breakfast as well as sandwiches, salads, and specialty coffees.
There is more than 15,000 square-feet of meeting and
event space at the Ritz-Carlton Highlands. It’s a popular place for business
functions as well as weddings, which can be accommodated in the luxurious
ballroom, which boasts floor to ceiling windows and a seating capacity of
about 300.
