Resort at Squaw Creek in Lake Tahoe

Seated at the base of Squaw Valley, the site of the 1960 Olympic Winter Games, the Resort at Squaw Creek is a AAA Four-Diamond resort that has recently enjoyed a $53 million renovation, making an already opulent hotel even more luxurious. Overlooking a waterfall and the Sierra Nevada range, this hotel is ideal for those who want to be close to all the activities the area has to offer. As a matter of fact, Conde Nast Magazine has included it on the list of the Top 50 ski resorts in North America.

There are a total of 405 beautiful guest rooms and suites at the Resort at Squaw Creek. Deluxe rooms include one king or two queen-sized beds. Large picture windows provide a great view of the area and each of these rooms also includes an LCD flat screen TV, robes, hairdryer, coffee maker, ironing board, half refrigerator, and robes. The king room includes a comfortable love seat as well and is ideal for couples. The cozy fireplace suites at Squaw Creek include separate bedrooms and living rooms with gas fireplace, an extra queen-sized sofa in the living area, dining table and four chairs, and all the amenities of the deluxe room. They are available in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom configurations.

For the finest in luxury accommodations, guests at the Resort at Squaw Creek can choose a penthouse suite with a huge bi-level floor plan. There’s a full kitchen in these units as well, which includes full-sized appliances. There’s also a dining table, two full baths including one with a soaking tub, and laundry facilities. These suits are ideal for large families or more than one party traveling together.

The Resort at Squaw Creek is a ski-in/ski-out facility so those heading to Lake Tahoe to take advantage of the abundant snow will love the location of these accommodations. The hotel has its own private chair lift and also a Nordic center and ice skating rink. In the summer, there’s a golf course, tennis courts, swimming pools, hiking and biking, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and much more. The Mountain Buddies program for kids age 4 to 12 lets children have fun while mom and dad are enjoying some activities on their own. Activities at the kids club include swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, games, and more in the summer and plenty of snow-based and indoor fun in the wintertime.

The Spa and Fitness Center at Squaw Creek offers 10 treatment rooms and an extensive menu of spa services. There are also manicure and pedicure stations, a year-round heated pool, outdoor hot tubs, and a sizeable fitness facility that includes a host of cardio and weight training equipment.

Dining options are many at this luxurious resort. The hotel’s “fancy” restaurants include Six Peaks Grille and Ristorante Montagna and Wine Bar. The former serves distinct regional cuisine using fresh local ingredients. The latter offers fine Italian specialties and an extensive wine list. In addition, there’s Sandy’s Pub, a traditional sports bar serving salads, burgers, beer and wine; Sweet Potatoes Deli, a coffeehouse that also sells breakfast items and light lunch fare; Chuck Wagon, open during ski season and offering classic Western barbecue; and The Oasis, the summertime pool bar that mixes up refreshing beverages.

The Resort at Squaw Creek has 33,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting space and nearly 15,000 square feet of outside space for social and business events. Weddings are heartily welcomed and can be held inside in the opulence of the hotel’s ballroom or outside surrounded by the grandeur of the Sierra Mountain range.
